Many
books have inspired me, and will continue to inspire me, in my
lifelong artistic search. Most any photography book will offer
some inspiration, but if you would like to learn more about the art of photography, read those
of internationally recognized teacher, writer and photographer
Freeman Patterson.
Perhaps more so than any others,
Patterson's books help me understand the art of seeking,
discovering and capturing the photographic image. Try these three
books first—
Photography and the Art of Seeing
Photography of Natural Things
Photo Impressionism and the Subjective Image
Other photographic artists whose
books can provide inspiration include (in alphabetical order)
Ansel Adams, Imogen Cunningham, Dewitt Jones,
and William Neill. The works of the 19th- and 20th-century
Impressionists, both European and American, can always provide
motivation.
